Global Health and Development Leadership Camp 2018
Overview
The School of Public Health of The University of Hong Kong is delighted to invite secondary school students (current S5 or its equivalent) to join a new “Global Health and Development Leadership Training Camp” to be held between 29 July and 1 August 2018.
This 4-day/3-night summer camp is aimed at students who are interested in exploring today’s international and global challenges, such as improving the health and well-being of people and the planet; improving the development of countries and communities; or reducing and reversing the adverse effects of climate change. During the course of the camp, students will hear about career opportunities and be exposed to contemporary issues in global health and development through a series of skill-based training workshops, role-play simulation activities, experience-sharing and professional coaching sessions, and be equipped with the requisite skills such as leadership, advocacy, diplomacy, research, writing, and critical thinking through participation in a model United Nations style exercise. They will learn to debate and advocate issues from different points of view; to effectively share their perspectives and concerns; and to negotiate to find solutions. Professional coaching by practitioners in the field will be provided.
The programme will conclude with a high table dinner on the final evening of the camp. Accommodation on campus is mandatory.
